Fire safety training in Conwy.
We deliver fire safety training in Conwy and the surrounding villages of the Conwy valley. Our trainers are based across the region and regularly work with businesses inside and around the town walls.
Conwy's medieval streets and historic buildings make it a special place to work. Staff in these buildings need training that reflects narrow stairs, small rooms and limited access for fire engines.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service expects training records to be up to date for every member of staff. Inspectors look for training that refers to your own building, including its escape routes and assembly point, and an online certificate on its own rarely shows that.
Sessions take place at your premises in Conwy, at a time that fits around your operations, including early starts and shift changes. Call 01244 450 990 to discuss your requirements.

Practical. Building-specific. Not a box-ticking exercise.
01 — Fire safety law
What the FSO requires of your staff
The legal framework explained in plain English — what the responsible person must do, what staff are required to do, and what happens when obligations are not met.
02 — Fire causes and prevention
How fires start and how to stop them
The ignition triangle, common ignition sources in your specific premises, and the practical prevention measures that reduce the likelihood of a fire starting.
03 — Fire detection and alarm
What the alarm means and what to do
Your specific alarm system, how it activates, what different signals mean, and the immediate action required from staff on hearing the alarm.
04 — Evacuation procedure
Your building's specific escape routes and assembly point
The evacuation procedure for your specific premises — the escape routes, the assembly point, the roll call procedure, and the fire marshal responsibilities for each zone or floor.
05 — Fire extinguisher use
Hands-on practical use on a live fire
Every delegate uses a fire extinguisher on a live fire — the only way to build the confidence and muscle memory that makes the difference when a real fire occurs.
06 — Fire marshal duties
Specific responsibilities for designated marshals
For fire marshal sessions — sweep duties, assembly point management, liaison with the fire service, and the specific responsibilities that designated marshals carry during and after an evacuation.
Training inside a medieval walled town
Conwy's castle and town walls are part of a World Heritage Site, and many buildings inside the walls are listed. Shops, cafés, pubs and holiday lets often occupy small, old buildings with steep stairs and limited means of escape.
The town is busy with visitors for much of the year, and the marina and riverside add hospitality and leisure businesses. Fire engines can find some streets hard to reach, so early action by staff matters even more.
Small historic premises
We show staff how to keep the single stair clear, why fire doors matter in old buildings and when to leave without trying to fight the fire.
Holiday lets and guest houses
Owners and housekeepers learn what guests need to know on arrival and how to check alarms between stays.
Visitor attractions and pubs
We cover crowd management in small spaces and how to guide visitors who do not know the town.
Alongside the local priorities above, we train staff in offices, schools, care homes, hotels, warehouses and HMOs and shared housing across Conwy.
Around Conwy we also cover Deganwy, Llandudno Junction, Gyffin, Penmaenmawr, Rowen and the Conwy valley.

"Great training session. Tim explained everything clearly, kept it engaging and made the information interesting and easy to understand. At the end of the session, Tim showed each of us how to use a fire extinguisher to put out a small fire that he safely started in a metal bucket. I have taken all this feedback to the practice i work in and we have now invited Tim to come and train the whole practice. Highly recommend this company."Julie P. · Google Review
How fire safety is enforced in Conwy
Conwy is covered by North Wales Fire and Rescue Service. In the year to March 2025 it carried out 320 fire safety audits, and 24.1% required further action: the lowest rate of the three Welsh fire and rescue services.
Inspectors also check that staff know what to do in a fire, and up-to-date training records are the simplest way to show it.
Audit results partly reflect how each service targets its inspections, so they show where enforcement attention falls rather than how safe an area is. Source: StatsWales, year ending March 2025.

Can you train staff in a listed building inside Conwy's walls?
Yes. We tailor the session to the building's layout and limitations, including single staircases and upper floors.
Do you work with holiday let owners in Conwy?
Yes. We train owners and cleaning teams on alarm checks, guest information and what to do if a fire starts while guests are staying.
How much does fire safety training cost in Conwy?
Fire Safety Awareness training is £395 per session. Fire Marshal training is £495 per session. Both are delivered on-site at your Conwy premises, with live fire extinguisher use included. Call 01244 450 990 to discuss session numbers and scheduling.
How many staff can attend each session?
Up to 8 delegates per session, which keeps the training interactive and gives everyone hands-on time with an extinguisher. For larger teams, multiple sessions can be arranged on the same day or across consecutive days. We will advise on the most efficient structure for your team size when you contact us.
Is online fire safety training adequate?
Online training can satisfy the basic awareness requirement for low-risk premises. For most premises, the fire authority expects to see evidence of on-site training that is specific to the building — referencing the actual escape routes, assembly point, and evacuation procedure. An online completion certificate does not provide that evidence. See our article on what fire authority inspectors expect to see.
How often should fire safety training be repeated?
Annual refresher training is appropriate for most premises. New starters should receive induction training before they take up their role. When the building's evacuation procedure changes, all staff should be retrained on the new procedure.
Do you cover other fire safety services in Conwy?
Yes — alongside fire safety training we offer fire risk assessments, fire door inspections, fire evacuation plans, fire safety policies, and evacuation chair training across Conwy.
