Rhyl fire safety training

Fire safety training in Rhyl.

We deliver fire safety training across Rhyl and the Denbighshire coast. Our trainers are based across the region and regularly work in the town's hotels, holiday parks, shops and shared housing.

Rhyl has changed a great deal from its peak as a seaside resort. Many former guest houses are now flats or houses in multiple occupation, and that change has a direct effect on the training that landlords and staff need.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service carries out audits across Rhyl and the surrounding area, and staff training is a standard part of every audit. Records of building-specific sessions, with the date, content and attendees, make that part of the inspection straightforward.

We deliver sessions at your Rhyl premises on a date that suits your working pattern. Call 01244 450 990 to talk through your building and your team.

Rhyl workplaces

Training Rhyl's workforce.

Rhyl's working population is spread across hospitality and leisure, retail, care, education and public services. Each of these brings its own training needs, from the seafront venue with hundreds of visitors on a summer evening to the care home where staff must move residents who cannot walk unaided.

Seasonal businesses are the group most likely to have untrained staff on shift. A new starter in May may be the person on duty when the alarm sounds in August, so we often recommend a full session at the start of the season and a short refresher for anyone who joins later.

Fire marshal training suits Rhyl's larger venues, holiday parks and multi-storey offices, where named staff need to sweep areas, check toilets and changing rooms, and report to whoever is in charge at the assembly point. Awareness training covers everyone else and includes live extinguisher practice, so staff know what using one actually feels like.

We deliver every session at your premises, so staff learn the routes and alarm points in their own building. Rhyl is a straightforward run along the A55 from our Chester office, and we regularly train teams across Denbighshire and the wider North Wales coast.

What the training covers

Practical. Building-specific. Not a box-ticking exercise.

01 — Fire safety law

What the FSO requires of your staff

The legal framework explained in plain English — what the responsible person must do, what staff are required to do, and what happens when obligations are not met.

02 — Fire causes and prevention

How fires start and how to stop them

The ignition triangle, common ignition sources in your specific premises, and the practical prevention measures that reduce the likelihood of a fire starting.

03 — Fire detection and alarm

What the alarm means and what to do

Your specific alarm system, how it activates, what different signals mean, and the immediate action required from staff on hearing the alarm.

04 — Evacuation procedure

Your building's specific escape routes and assembly point

The evacuation procedure for your specific premises — the escape routes, the assembly point, the roll call procedure, and the fire marshal responsibilities for each zone or floor.

05 — Fire extinguisher use

Hands-on practical use on a live fire

Every delegate uses a fire extinguisher on a live fire — the only way to build the confidence and muscle memory that makes the difference when a real fire occurs.

06 — Fire marshal duties

Specific responsibilities for designated marshals

For fire marshal sessions — sweep duties, assembly point management, liaison with the fire service, and the specific responsibilities that designated marshals carry during and after an evacuation.

Rhyl · local training needs

A seaside resort with changing buildings

Rhyl's seafront and the streets behind it are lined with large Victorian and Edwardian houses. Many began as guest houses and hotels, and a significant number have since been divided into flats and shared homes with several households in one building.

The town also has holiday parks, a busy promenade and leisure venues that see large seasonal crowds. Staff in these premises are often seasonal too, so training has to be short, clear and easy to repeat.

Shared houses and converted flats

We train managing agents and on-site staff on fire doors, alarm testing and how to deal with residents who wedge doors open.

Holiday parks and caravans

We cover the spread of fire between caravans, gas cylinders and how staff guide guests who are unfamiliar with the site at night.

Seasonal hospitality

We offer a short induction format that managers can repeat with new seasonal staff between our visits.

We also work across Rhyl with offices, schools, care homes, hotels, warehouses and HMOs and shared housing, with each session built around the building.

As well as Rhyl itself, we deliver training in Kinmel Bay, Rhuddlan, Bodelwyddan, St Asaph, Dyserth and Towyn.

What our clients say

★★★★★

"Great training session. Tim explained everything clearly, kept it engaging and made the information interesting and easy to understand. At the end of the session, Tim showed each of us how to use a fire extinguisher to put out a small fire that he safely started in a metal bucket. I have taken all this feedback to the practice i work in and we have now invited Tim to come and train the whole practice. Highly recommend this company."

Inspectors also check that staff know what to do in a fire, and up-to-date training records are the simplest way to show it.

Common questions

Fire safety training in Rhyl — your questions answered.

Do you train staff who manage shared houses in Rhyl?

Yes. We train managing agents, caretakers and landlords on the practical checks and resident briefings that keep shared buildings safe.

Which law applies to fire safety training in Rhyl?

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 applies in Wales. The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 do not, but the duty to train staff is the same. North Wales Fire and Rescue Service enforces it locally.

How much does fire safety training cost in Rhyl?

Fire Safety Awareness training is £395 per session. Fire Marshal training is £495 per session. Both are delivered on-site at your Rhyl premises, with live fire extinguisher use included. Call 01244 450 990 to discuss session numbers and scheduling.

How many staff can attend each session?

Up to 8 delegates per session, which keeps the training interactive and gives everyone hands-on time with an extinguisher. For larger teams, multiple sessions can be arranged on the same day or across consecutive days. We will advise on the most efficient structure for your team size when you contact us.

Is online fire safety training adequate?

Online training can satisfy the basic awareness requirement for low-risk premises. For most premises, the fire authority expects to see evidence of on-site training that is specific to the building — referencing the actual escape routes, assembly point, and evacuation procedure. An online completion certificate does not provide that evidence. See our article on what fire authority inspectors expect to see.

How often should fire safety training be repeated?

Annual refresher training is appropriate for most premises. New starters should receive induction training before they take up their role. When the building's evacuation procedure changes, all staff should be retrained on the new procedure.

Do you cover other fire safety services in Rhyl?

Yes — alongside fire safety training we offer fire risk assessments, fire door inspections, fire evacuation plans, fire safety policies, and evacuation chair training across Rhyl.
