A town rebuilt after a great fire
In December 1583 a fire burned for around twenty days and destroyed much of Nantwich. The town was rebuilt in timber, and many of those Tudor buildings survive along Welsh Row, Hospital Street and around the square.
Today those buildings house independent shops, restaurants and offices, often with timber floors and upper rooms reached by narrow stairs. Nantwich also has care homes, schools and an agricultural college nearby, each with its own training needs.

How fire safety is enforced in Nantwich
