Fire safety training in Chester.
Our head office is in Chester — fire safety training is a service we deliver on-site across the city and the surrounding Cheshire West area, tailored to the specific building and the specific staff being trained.
Chester's varied building stock creates a varied fire safety training environment. Staff working in the Rows, the historic town centre, or a converted Georgian building need to understand the specific evacuation challenges of the premises they work in — not a generic fire safety presentation that could apply to any building. Our trainers deliver sessions on-site and reference the building's specific layout, escape routes, and assembly point throughout.
Cheshire West and Chester Council and Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service both expect fire safety training records to be maintained for staff in licensed and non-domestic premises. A responsible person who cannot produce training records for current staff is not in a defensible position under the FSO.
As Chester is our home base, we can often schedule training sessions at short notice. Call 01244 394 244 to discuss your requirements.

Our training is delivered on-site at your Chester premises by the same qualified assessors who carry out your fire risk assessment — people who know what fire authority inspectors expect, what the FSO requires, and how to make training practical rather than theoretical. Call 01244 394 244 to discuss your requirements.
Practical. Building-specific. Not a box-ticking exercise.
01 — Fire safety law
What the FSO requires of your staff
The legal framework explained in plain English — what the responsible person must do, what staff are required to do, and what happens when obligations are not met.
02 — Fire causes and prevention
How fires start and how to stop them
The ignition triangle, common ignition sources in your specific premises, and the practical prevention measures that reduce the likelihood of a fire starting.
03 — Fire detection and alarm
What the alarm means and what to do
Your specific alarm system, how it activates, what different signals mean, and the immediate action required from staff on hearing the alarm.
04 — Evacuation procedure
Your building's specific escape routes and assembly point
The evacuation procedure for your specific premises — the escape routes, the assembly point, the roll call procedure, and the fire marshal responsibilities for each zone or floor.
05 — Fire extinguisher use
Hands-on practical use on a live fire
Every delegate uses a fire extinguisher on a live fire — the only way to build the confidence and muscle memory that makes the difference when a real fire occurs.
06 — Fire marshal duties
Specific responsibilities for designated marshals
For fire marshal sessions — sweep duties, assembly point management, liaison with the fire service, and the specific responsibilities that designated marshals carry during and after an evacuation.
Every premises type has its own training requirements.

Fire safety training in Chester — your questions answered.
How much does fire safety training cost in Chester?
Fire Safety Awareness training is £395 per session. Fire Marshal training is £495 per session. Both are delivered on-site at your Chester premises, with live fire extinguisher use included. Call 01244 394 244 to discuss session numbers and scheduling.
How many staff can attend each session?
Typically up to 20 delegates per session. For larger teams, multiple sessions can be arranged on the same day or across consecutive days. We will advise on the most efficient structure for your team size when you contact us.
Is online fire safety training adequate?
Online training can satisfy the basic awareness requirement for low-risk premises. For most premises, the fire authority expects to see evidence of on-site training that is specific to the building — referencing the actual escape routes, assembly point, and evacuation procedure. An online completion certificate does not provide that evidence. See our article on what fire authority inspectors expect to see.
How often should fire safety training be repeated?
Annual refresher training is appropriate for most premises. New starters should receive induction training before they take up their role. When the building's evacuation procedure changes, all staff should be retrained on the new procedure.
Do you cover other fire safety services in Chester?
Yes — alongside fire safety training we offer fire risk assessments, fire door inspections, fire evacuation plans, fire safety policies, and evacuation chair training across Chester.
