Fletcher Risk Management carries out fire risk assessments, fire door inspections, and fire safety consultancy for businesses, landlords, and property managers across Wirral. We are based in Chester — Wirral is a regular part of our working week. Every assessment is carried out by an ABBE Level 4 qualified assessor with real sector experience, from £295.

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person for any non-domestic premises is legally required to ensure a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment is carried out by a competent person. That obligation has been strengthened by the Fire Safety Act 2021 and the Building Safety Act 2022. An outdated or inadequate assessment leaves the responsible person exposed to enforcement, invalidated insurance, and prosecution.

Wirral fire safety context

The Wirral — a peninsula with its own risk profile.

The Wirral has a distinctive property market that combines Victorian and Edwardian residential stock, a significant HMO and multi-let sector, substantial waterfront regeneration, and established industrial and logistics operations at Wirral Waters and across the Eastham and Bromborough areas. Each of these environments presents its own fire risk profile — and each requires an assessor who understands the building type, not just the checklist.

Wirral's older residential stock — converted Victorian terraces across Birkenhead, Tranmere, and Rock Ferry in particular — contains a disproportionate number of properties that have been converted to HMOs or multi-let flats without the compartmentation improvements that conversion should bring. These buildings are a priority for Merseyside Fire & Rescue's inspection programme, and the gap between what the fire authority expects and what many landlords currently have in place is significant.

We are based in Chester and cover the full Wirral peninsula regularly — CH40 through CH63. Our assessors understand the Wirral's building stock, its property market, and the enforcement environment that Wirral landlords and building owners operate within. We produce assessments that will satisfy Merseyside Fire & Rescue, Wirral Council, and your insurer.
